Travel document requirements for visitors

Nationals of the member states of EU and EEA - Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Finland, France, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, The Netherlands, United Kingdom - or Switzerland are free to enter Estonia. Required travel document for them to enter Estonia is personal ID card or passport.
Upon arrival in Estonia all foreign travel documents must meet the following requirements irrespective of the travel document not being recognised by their home country:
Persons who submit a passport to an Estonian foreign representation for obtaining a visa must take into account that:
- the passport must be valid at least three months after the expiration of the requested visa period
- the passport must contain at least two blank pages
- persons 15 years and older must possess their own travel document with photo
- children 7 to 15 years of age, if entered into a parent's passport, must have his/her photo in the parent’s passport. Children under the age of 7, if entered into a parent's passport, need not have a photo in the parent's passport.
A failure to meet these requirements will result in the visa application being considered incomplete and it will not be processed. In the case where a child is entered in a parent's travel document, the child will be noted on the visa only at the parent’s request.
Persons not requiring a visa shall present a passport at the border crossing upon entry into Estonia. A child 7-15 years old, if entered into a parent's passport, must have his/her photo in the parent's passport.
A visa application for a child travelling without its parent must be accompanied by the parents’ notarised letter of consent confirming that the child may travel alone or accompanied by a specified person.
